Which one should you call
If you are thinking of harming yourself, or you are frightened by your own thoughts, call Tele MANAS on 14416 or KIRAN on 1800 599 0019. Both are free, both run through the night, and both are staffed for exactly this.
If it is not an emergency but you want to talk to a trained counsellor, iCall is the best of these for an unhurried conversation, within its hours.
If someone else is in danger and you are the one holding it, these lines will talk to you too. You do not have to be the person in crisis to call.
Questions people ask
Are these helplines really free?
Yes. Every service listed on this page is free to call. Tele MANAS and KIRAN are run by the Government of India, and the rest are run by non-profit foundations and trusts.
Will they tell my family?
These are confidential services. They are there to listen and to help you decide what to do next, not to report you. If you are worried about confidentiality, you can ask the counsellor about it at the start of the call.
Is there a helpline in my language?
Tele MANAS answers in English and 20 regional languages, and KIRAN in 13. If your language is not covered by the smaller services, call 14416 first.
What if I am not in crisis and just feel heavy?
Helplines will still take your call, and iCall in particular is suited to that. If what you want is simply to be heard for half an hour, without it being a crisis or a diagnosis, that is what FeelingsOut itself is for.
How often is this page checked?
Every number here is verified against the operator and carries the date it was last checked. We recheck the whole page every three months, because an out of date helpline number is worse than no number at all.
Last checked: 23 October 2026. If a number on this page does not work, please write to feelingsout.help@gmail.com and we will correct it within the week.
