1. Listen first
Your job is to listen, not to fix. Let people finish. Ask gentle questions. Do not give advice unless the person asks for it. Never tell someone what they should have done.
2. No judgement
People will share things about relationships, family, faith, money and choices that you may not agree with. Your opinion is not needed. Your presence is.
3. Confidentiality
What is said on a call stays on the call. Do not record, screenshot, or share anything, even without names. The only exception is a risk to someone’s life, where you share the helplines and inform FeelingsOut.
4. No contact outside FeelingsOut
Do not share or ask for phone numbers, social media handles, or personal details. Do not meet in person. Do not offer paid calls outside the platform. This protects both of you.
5. You are not a therapist
Never diagnose, never suggest medication, never claim expertise you do not have. If someone seems to need professional help, say so kindly and share the helplines. If someone talks about harming themselves, stay with them, stay calm, share Tele MANAS 14416 and encourage them to call.
6. Show up
Keep your availability honest. Join calls on time from a quiet place. If you cannot make a call, cancel as early as possible so the person is refunded and can rebook.
7. Look after yourself
Listening is real work. Take breaks. Switch off availability when you are tired. If a call affected you, write to us. We are here for listeners too.
Breaking this code leads to removal from FeelingsOut. Two reports from callers pause your profile automatically until we review.
